I HEART the Zoo

We haven't had a vocabulary lesson in a while.  Let's talk about my favorite place, the Zoo, also called zoological garden. A parklike area in which live animals are kept in cages or large enclosures for public exhibition.

Mommy and I go to the zoo at least once a week because we are members.  No, not residents, members.  At first I just enjoyed the park-like aspect, then I noticed all the seagulls.

Now I realize it is full of all kinds of animals.  You could say that we study Zoology, the branch of biology that deals with animals and animal life, including the study of the structure, physiology, development, and classification of animals.

I would classify goats and sheep as my favorite animals to try to hug:

Another definition of zoology is: the properties and vital phenomena exhibited by an animal, animal type, or group.
I think the most vital phenomenon of prairie dog babies is they are cute!

One of the highlights of our trips is the giraffe feeding.  This is the giraffe barn:

These are some of the giraffes pacing outside the barn because they know it is almost feeding time.

This is me waiting for Ron the giraffe man to let them in.  I like to shout so he knows I'm there.

Finally they start to come in.

Why do I like Ron so much?  Because sometimes he has a special treat for the giraffes and kids.  He lets us feed them bananas!  He also makes me the star of the show.  I know him so well now that he just walks up to me and Mommy and takes me over the barrier and to the giraffes.  People are amazed.

One time there were so many kids that it would have taken too long to pass them each over one at time.  All the mommies and kids got to go through the door and around up close to the giraffes.  Mommy got to feed them that day.
